MEN'S HOOPS OPENS HOMESTAND WITH MATCHUP AGAINST TENNESSEE TECH ON THURSDAY
MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball team kicks off a four-game homestand against Ohio Valley Conference rival Tennessee Tech at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center on Thursday, Feb. 20. Tipoff time is set for 7 p.m.
This game marks the final game against an OVC East opponent for UT Martin in the regular season. This is the first time the in-state rivals have squared off against each other this season.
The Skyhawks (8-19, 3-9 OVC) are coming off an impressive 79-70 road win at Southeast Missouri on Feb. 12. In that game, UT Martin held the highest scoring team in the league to just 22.7 percent shooting from beyond the three-point arc. Myles Taylor and Marshun Newell each poured in 18 points to pace the Skyhawks.
Tennessee Tech (13-14, 6-6 OVC) began February with an 81-76 win over league-leading Belmont but saw its three-game winning streak snapped with a 79-53 home loss to Morehead State last Saturday. Jeremiah Samarrippas (11 points) and Dennis Ogbe (10 points) each cracked double-figures in the scoring column for the Golden Eagles, who were limited to 34.6 percent shooting for the contest.
