BUTLER EARNS SPORTS NETWORK ALL-AMERICAN SECOND TEAM ACCOLADES
MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin senior wide receiver Jeremy Butler was announced as a 2013 second team All-American this afternoon by the Sports Network.
Butler, who had previously racked up All-American accolades by the Associated Press and College Sports Madness earlier this month, becomes the 25th UT Martin football player in program history to collect All-American status.
Despite playing only two seasons, Butler etched his name into the Skyhawk record book as one of the most dynamic playmakers in school history. He concluded his career ranking in UT Martin’s top-five lists in 100-yard receiving games (eight, first), touchdown receptions (20, second), receptions (141, third) and receiving yards (1,953, fifth).
Butler also became the second player in program history to post back-to-back seasons of double-digit touchdown receptions (10 in both 2012 and 2013). All in all, he had six multi-touchdown performances in 22 career games at UT Martin.
In 2013, the 6-3, 205-pound native of Bradenton, Fla. hauled in 90 catches for 1,203 yards – both of which rank as the best UT Martin single-season totals in those respective categories. Butler averaged 100.2 receiving yards per game this past season, tallying 90 or more receiving yards in nine of 12 games.
