BASKETBALL GUARD TABBED MADNESS' NATIONAL PLAYER OF WEEK: OVC PLAYER OF WEEK
MARTIN, Tenn. – Jasmine Newsome, a junior guard on the women’s basketball team at The University of Tennessee at Martin, has been named College Sports Madness National Mid-Major Player of the Week for her effort against Southeast Missouri State and Morehead State. She also was named Madness’ Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week.
Newsome scored 36 points at Southeast Missouri State and 27 points against Morehead State. Newsome averaged 7.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game.
She also 7-of-9 3-pointers in the two games as the Skyhawks claimed victories over both foes.
Newsome was also named the adidas OVC Player of the Week Tuesday afternoon.
