NEWSOME PICKS UP THIRD PLAYER OF WEEK HONOR
MARTIN, Tenn. -- Jasmine Newsome, a junior guard on The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team, was named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for her effort this past week against Evansville, Central Arkansas and Missouri.
Newsome, from Millington, led the Skyhawks in scoring against Central Arkansas and Missouri. She recorded 25 points against the Sugar Bears and 24 versus the Tigers. She shot 53.1 percent from the floor over the three games. For the week she averaged 22.3 points, 6.2 assists and 4.0 steals.
Newsome has won the league’s Player of the Week honors three out of four weeks this season.
