SKYHAWK BASEBALL BEGINS FIVE-GAME HOMESTAND WITH MIDWEEK GAME VS UNION

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team kicks off a five-game homestand with regional foe Union University.
The Skyhawks look to replicate their last outing against Union as they defeated the Bulldogs 11-5 on the road. Union comes into town after playing a Monday doubleheader at the University of West Alabama.
UT Martin is led by the hot bat of Jordan Stoner (.353 batting average, .432 on base percentage and .529 slugging percentage). He has stolen eight bases and tallied a pair of triples on the season, both tied for the best on the squad. The outfielder has produced three home runs and 11 RBIs on the season. Stoner currently boasts a 13-game reached base streak while also tallying a total of 15 multiple hit games on the year.
The duo of Carson Shrode and Ethan Whiltey have swung the heaviest bats as both men have have hit six home runs each and tallied 18 and 22 RBIs, respectively. A total of nine Skyhawk batters have rapped out double digit RIBs ont he season and the same nine have belted at least one homer on the year.
Dalton Westfall (0-3, 14.49 ERA) will get the starting nod tomorrow. The righty is coming off of an impressive performance at Tennessee where he fanned six batters in 2.2 innings of work. The Skyhawk bullpen features the likes of David Hussey (0-0, 6.27 ERA) and Konnor Aherin (2-2, 6.50 ERA). Peyton Cain (0-4, 6.81 ERA) and Austen Bullington (0-2, 8.92 ERA) provided UT Martin with valuable relief innings over the weekend at Central Arkansas as both men tossed a combined 11.1 innings and allowed a total of just three earned runs in that span.
Union is led by Chase Diggs (.351 batting average, one home run and 19 RBIs). The trio of Nolen Milton (.316 batting average, four home runs and 26 RBIs), David Robbins (.307 batting average, five home runs and 28 RBIs) and Hayden Lewis (.290 batting average, four home runs and 23 RBIs) have provided the bulk of the run support for the Bulldogs. Union has tallied a total of 17 triples on the season, led by Lewis’ five. A total of nine Bulldog hitters have racked up double digit RBI numbers while nine have also belted a homer this year.
JR Miller (4-5, 6.20 ERA) and Scott Shearer (4-7, 6.53 ERA) share the lead on the squad in victories and starts (10). Marty Coursey (0-3, 5.36 ERA) has given the Bulldogs solid innings with five starts and 11 total appearances on the season. Brady Cook (0-3, 6.51 ERA) leads the squad in appearances with 17 on the year for head coach Lee Driggers.
