MARTIN, Tenn. –
For the third consecutive week, the University of Tennessee at Martin finds themselves ranked No. 8 in the nation as the latest Farnam National Collegiate Equestrian Association polls were announced today.

The Skyhawks have now been ranked on 14 different occasions in 2017-18, appearing in every poll since Oct. 10.

Georgia came in at No. 1 in today’s rankings, followed by No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 5 TCU, No. 6 SMU, No. 7 Baylor, No. 8 UT Martin, No. 9 South Dakota State and No. 10 South Carolina.

All three Skyhawk victories this season have come against nationally ranked opponents while UT Martin also boasts exhibition wins over Miami (Ohio) and Ole Miss.

The Skyhawks have used a balanced attack so far through their successful season, garnering 30 wins the Hunt Seat discipline and 30 victories in the Western discipline. UT Martin has also accounted for 13 MOP’s this season, as eight different Skyhawks have combined to notch the top accolade.

UT Martin has not competed in an official capacity since a 10-6 win over then-No. 8 South Dakota State on Feb. 24. The Skyhawks close out their home slate this week with an exhibition against Sweet Briar College on Thursday, March 15 before a matchup against Minnesota-Crookston on Friday, March 16. UT Martin then travels to Dallas, Texas for the United Equestrian Conference championship on March 30-31 before the NCEA Championships will be held in Waco, Texas on April 18-21.
