University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball player Chelsey Perry was honored for her previous week’s accomplishments by being named adidas Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for her performances against Eastern Kentucky and Southeast Missouri.

A native of Middleton, Tenn., Perry proved to be a dynamic force in the Skyhawks starting lineup over the past week. In a pair of contests, Perry averaged 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the free throw line.

Perry began her week with 11 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in a road victory at Eastern Kentucky. She then took her game to another level against Southeast Missouri, scoring a career-high 21 points – including 15 points in the second quarter to retake a key lead – while tallying seven rebounds, two steals and a block.

The 6-2 forward ranks third in the OVC in free throw percentage at 86.1 percent, eighth in blocked shots with 26 and ninth in offensive rebounds with 62. Perry has scored in double figures 14 times on the season while eclipsing 15 points or more on eight occasions.

Perry and the Skyhawks will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 15 against OVC rival SIUE. Tipoff from the Elam Center is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
