Do you take freshmen on the squad? Yes

Are scholarships available? Yes. Fourteen girls will be awarded scholarship money towards tuition.

Is it a co-ed squad? No. At this time we are All-Girl.

Is there a Pom Squad? No

When are tryouts?  April

Do we cheer for football and basketball? We cheer for all home games in both sports. We do travel to some games in football. In basketball we only travel to tournament games.

What do I need to be working on to try out next year? Tumbling, partner stunting, jumps, smiling, and a great attitude.

If I am interested in UTM can I come to a practice? Certainly... contact us and we will arrange for you to visit a practice, attend a game, or meet with cheer coaches.

What is the main trait you are looking for? Talent and a positive attitude.

What are you looking for at tryouts? Roundoff back-hand-spring is the minimum tumbling. The more advanced tumbling the better. Good jumps. Ability to learn a routine fast. Sharp motions. Excellent facials and smiles. Excellent grades. Proper height/weight ratio.

What happens if I miss classes or practices? You are here FIRST for an education, then cheering. Missing either will not be tolerated.

What do I have to buy? Uniforms, windsuits, shoes, practice clothes, bag, etc. are furnished by the cheer squad. Meals between double headers are furnished. Travel expensed are furnished.

If I can't tumble will that hurt my chances? Yes, if enough try out that can tumble and are equally as talented in other areas.

What paperwork must I bring to tryouts? A complete application and physicians physical examination form, which is located on our website. 

When would cuts be made at tryouts? Cuts could be made as early as Saturday afternoon. Cuts are at the descretion of the Cheer Staff.
