BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin freshman football player Peyton Logan has been named adidas Ohio Valley Conference Co-Specialist of the Week after an impressive performance against Eastern Kentucky.
Logan broke loose in a big way for the Skyhawks against Eastern Kentucky. Playing as a true freshman, Logan returned a total of three kickoffs, totaling 167 yards. His best return of the contest came in the third quarter when he gave the Skyhawks a 14-10 lead with a 95-yard scamper for a touchdown. The kickoff return touchdown marked the first for the Skyhawks since 2012. In addition to his big break, he also notched returns of 34 and 38 yards to averaged 55.6 yards per return.
A native of Horn Lake, Miss., Logan currently ranks third nationally in kickoff return touchdowns (one), seventh in kickoff return average (29.4 yards) and 43rd in combined kick return yards (387).
Logan and the Skyhawks will return to action when playing host to Eastern Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 28. Kickoff from Hardy M. Graham Stadium is scheduled for 2 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3.
