MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team returns home for a matchup against Belmont on Friday, Oct. 6 before hitting the road to take on Austin Peay on Sunday, Oct. 8. Friday’s match will begin at 7 p.m. while Sunday’s match will begin at 1 p.m.
The Skyhawks have won four of the last five contests against Belmont, as UT Martin looks to break a tied all-time record (8-8) against the Bruins. UT Martin leads Austin Peay by a 10-5-1 margin all-time and looks to keep the tradition going.
The Skyhawks (4-8-2, 2-3 OVC) are coming off a match against Murray State where they found themselves at the wrong end of a wild match. UT Martin dropped the decision 3-1, as all four goals came in the last 10 minutes of the bout.
Freshman Ashley Levingston led the Skyhawks in the contest as she netted her second career goal while Alice Adams notched her first assist in a UT Martin uniform.
As a team, the Skyhawks rank second in the Ohio Valley Conference in saves per game (5.07). UT Martin ranks third in the OVC in shots per game (15.79), shots on goal per game (7.14) and total assists (16).
Erica Myers accounts for the third-most goalkeeper minutes (1171:05) in the OVC while the freshman also ranks second in the conference in saves per game (4.69) and total saves (61). Katelyn Colvin has tallied five assists on the season, which is good enough for second in the OVC.
The Skyhawks offense is led by Danae Kaldaridou (four goals, four assists), Amy McGivern (three goals, two assists) and Colvin (three goals, five assists). UT Martin has seen a total of eight different players net goals on the season as Adams, Levingston, Nicole Collins, Vanessa Dwumfour-Poku and Kaci Mitchell have also found the back of the net.
Belmont (7-4-1, 3-2 OVC) is led by Belicia Mendiola (eight goals, six assists) and Halle Krebs (four goals). The Bruins boast eight total scorers, seven of whom have two or more goals on the season. Lily Herman (25 saves, 1.28 GAA) has seen the bulk of the time between the goalposts for seventh-year head coach Heather Henson.
Austin Peay (7-5-1, 2-3-1 OVC) is led by Kirstin Robertson, who has netted nine goals so far this season. Morgan Drawdy, Claire Larose and Shelby Stewart all have three goals apiece for the Govs. Mary Parker Powell (24 saves, 1.08 GAA) has served as the primary goalkeeper for head coach Kelley Guth, who is in her 14th season at Austin Peay.
