MARTIN, Tenn. – For the second straight tournament, fans of the University of Tennessee at Martin golf program can track the team and individual scoring throughout the upcoming SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational.
The SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational is a 54-hole stroke play event that takes place on Monday, Sept. 25 and Tuesday, Sept. 26. The Skyhawks join the 17-team tournament field that also features Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Eastern Illinois, Iowa Western Community College, Loyola Chicago, Missouri State, Mott Community College, Murray State, Nicholls, North Dakota, Northern Iowa, Omaha, host SIUE, Valparaiso and Western Illinois.
The tournament will be held at the Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Ill., which is a par-71 course that plays at 7,092 yards. The tournament starts with 36 continuous holes on Monday, followed by the third and final round on Tuesday. Each day is set to begin with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.
UT Martin has averaged a 289.8 team score so far in 2017-18 and has been paced by senior Hunter Richardson (68.8 scoring average). The Clarksville, Tenn. native has won both of the Skyhawks’ first two events, claiming medalist honors at the Murray State Invitational (203, -10) in the season opener before pacing the Memphis Intercollegiate field with a 210 (-6). Freshman Nick Wolf has also played well for UT Martin, carding a 72.7 scoring average to rank in the top-25 in the OVC.
