BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin football team was well represented in the adidas Ohio Valley Conference weekly honors as Troy Cook and Anthony Brown earned Co-Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors for their respective performances against Chattanooga.
A native of Miami, Fla., Cook earned his second career Offensive Player of the Week honor after leading the Skyhawks to a 21-7 road victory over No. 12 Chattanooga. In the contest, Cook completed 16-of-21 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns. He posted a spectacular passer rating of 196.53 in a critical game which marked his sixth career contest with three or more touchdowns. In addition to his offensive efficiency, Cook notched a pair of punts which averaged 27 yards – placing both inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.
Also hailing from Miami, Fla., Brown notched a breakout performance on the front line of a dominating defensive attack which limited the Mocs to just six yards rushing and 150 yards of total offense. While tallying just three tackles on the day, Brown made the most of his evening by notching 2.0 sacks and 2.0 tackles for loss which totaled 24 yards while also recording a quarterback hurry. His best play came on the first drive of the third quarter when he tallied a strip sack which would be recovered on the UTC 11 and directly led to a touchdown drive just two plays later.
The duo will look to start OVC play out strong with a matchup against nationally ranked Tennessee State for Family Weekend on Saturday, Sept. 23. With several attractions planned for the afternoon in conjunction with Family Weekend at UT Martin, kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. from Hardy M. Graham Stadium on ESPN3.
