LADARIUS GALLOWAY NAMED BOTH OVC OFFENSIVE PLAYER AND NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK

September 10, 2017

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin junior running back Ladarius Galloway has been tabbed both this week’s adidas Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week after posting a dazzling performance against Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon.

The 5-9, 205 pound running back has burst onto the scene in a big way for the Skyhawks in his first two weeks in uniform. Playing at Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponent Ole Miss in his home state, Galloway carried the ball 24 times for 188 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 7.8 yards per carry while notching seven carries over 10 yards – including four runs over 15 yards. His 188 rushing yards rank as the seventh-most by a FCS player in a game this season. His longest run came on a game-long 59-yard rush to extend a drive while setting up a short touchdown run on the ensuing play. For the game, he totaled 197 yards of total offense after notching one reception for nine yards.

Hailing from Indianola, Miss., Galloway has strung together strong performances in both games this season. After having 157 yards in Week 1, Galloway is the first UT Martin player to tally back-to-back 150-plus yard rushing games since Don Chapman accomplished the feat in a record-setting 2006 campaign. Galloway currently ranks second nationally in rushing yards (345) and rushing yards/game (172.5), fifth in all-purpose yards (197.5/game) and ninth in rushing yards/carry (8.41).

Galloway and the Skyhawks will look to leave it mark in their next matchup at in-state foe Chattanooga on Saturday, Sept. 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CST.
