MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team will return to Skyhawk Field for a matchup against Arkansas State on Friday, Sept. 8 kickoff time is set for 7 p.m.
UT Martin (2-3-2) looks to keep up the momentum as the Skyhawks snapped a three game overtime streak when they knocked off Jackson State on Wednesday 2-1.
Amy McGivern nabbed Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for her showing against Chattanooga last Friday as she broke UT Martin’s single-match record for shots by an individual (14) and led the Skyhawks to a new program single-match high of shots attempted (44). She scored both goals in the Chattanooga match and also knocked in the game-winner at Jackson State on Wednesday.
Freshman Ashley Levingston netted her first collegiate goal on Sunday in the 1-1 tie with Lipscomb while Danae Kaldaridou picked up a goal in the Jackson State match.
Katelyn Colvin tallied one assist in each game over the weekend to giver a team-high five assists on the season. Freshman Isabella Roberts was credited with assists for both goals in the road victory at Jackson State.
Skyhawk goalkeepers Makenzie Crawford and Erica Myers have split time in the last three matches. Crawford logged a total of 135 minutes and allowed three goals while making nine saves in the process. Myers posted 155 minutes while allowing just one goal and tallying four saves along the way.
Arkansas State (3-2) is on a two-game win streak with a pair of wins over Oral Roberts and Central Arkansas this past weekend. Underclassmen Dana O’Boye and Sarah Sodoma have three goals each to their credit. The Red Wolves have remained fairly solid between the goalposts even though they have seen split time at the position. Kelsey Ponder (2-1, 0.64 GAA) and Megan McClure (1-1, 1.50) have saved a total of 33 shots on the season for head coach Brian Dooley, who is in his third season at Arkansas State.
