BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer program received their first adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honor of 2017 as junior Danae Kaldaridou was named the league's Co-Offensive Player of the Week alongside Murray State's Harriet Withers.

The Athens, Greece native led the Skyhawks in the victory over Marshall in the 2017 season opener on Friday by connecting for two goals, picking up an assist and tallying five points. Her first goal came on a pass from fellow junior Amy McGivern as she ripped off a shot from 15 yards out. The second goal came from freshman Blare Gerido as Kaldaridou made an intricate spin move from 20 yards away that found the net. Her assist was one of the double nature as she immediately relayed the ball to McGivern who then connected with Katelyn Colvin for the game-winner. Kaldaridou finished the weekend with eight total shots (five on goal), five points, two goals and an assist.

This is the second such honor of Kaldaridou's Skyhawk career as she picked up the award on Sept. 6, 2016 and ultimately earned a spot on the All-Newcomer team last season. It is the first award since Amy McGivern shared the honor with Withers as well back on Oct. 11, 2016.

UT Martin returns to action this Friday Aug. 25 as they host the UAB Blazers at Skyhawk Field with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
