MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team is set to begin preseason practice today to prep for the 2017 campaign.
UT Martin finished the 2016 season with a 4-14 record but are returning 11 players while bringing in 12 newcomers this fall. With a new crop of freshmen, the Skyhawks look to a seasoned junior trio of Amy McGivern, Danae Kaldaridou and Maggie Burkett – each of whom have earned All-OVC honors in their UT Martin careers.
“We are excited to officially get things going this season,” said Skyhawk head coach Phil McNamara. “We are glad to get everybody together so we can start to develop team chemistry. This year’s team has more newcomers than returners so these next two weeks will be crucial in developing our team identity.”
UT Martin begins its 20th season of soccer by hosting Marshall on Friday, Aug. 18. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. at Skyhawk Field.
