CAMERON PARK, Calif. – Incoming University of Tennessee at Martin softball freshman Veronica Pezzoni has already made a splash in the national landscape after recently being named a MaxPreps 2017 High School Softball All-American.
Finding a home on the second team, Pezzoni hails from Howell High School in Michigan where she led the Highlanders to a 38-3 overall record and a KLAA Association championship. As a senior, she posted a .585 batting average with 76 hits, 67 runs scored, 11 doubles, 15 triples, two home runs and 34 RBIs on the season. She also drew 19 walks while posting a .633 on-base percentage and .946 slugging percentage. On the basepaths is where she really left her mark, swiping 25 stolen bases.
A 5-5 lefty which is projected to play centerfield for the Skyhawks has posted impressive career numbers along with a pair of All-American honors. Boasting a career batting average over .550, she has tallied 207 hits, 23 doubles, 25 triples, four home runs and 187 runs scored. She also stole 100 career bases while successfully swiping 84-consecutive bases – which ranks as the fourth longest streak in Michigan prep history.
