OXFORD, Ala. – University of Tennessee at Martin freshman outfielder Connor Aube has been selected to the 2017 Ohio Valley Conference All-Freshman team, as voted on by coaches and sports information directors and announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Aube becomes the 11th player in program history to be named to the All-Freshman team and 29th player overall to receive All-OVC honors. He concluded the 2017 regular season by batting .321 (fourth highest on the team) in conference play.
The Falmouth, Maine native racked up 56 hits and 47 runs on the season, while driving in 22 runs. Aube’s breakout performance came on April 9, as the left fielder went 4-5 at the plate, including driving in five runs in UT Martin’s 18-6 OVC victory over Morehead State.
Joining Aube on the 2017 All-Freshman squad is Parker Phillips and Malcolm Tipler of Austin Peay, Matt Cogen of Belmont, Nick Howie of Eastern Kentucky, Andrew Naismith and Chase Robinson of Jacksonville State, Jake Ziegelmeyer of Morehead State, Davis Sims and Ryan Perkins of Murray State, Danny Wright of Southeast Missouri, Eric Glitz of SIU Edwardsville and Devin Lancaster of Tennessee Tech.
Aube and the Skyhawks open up OVC Tournament play tonight at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. as they take on Austin Peay in an elimination game. First pitch for the opener is scheduled for 6 p.m.
