BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Dan Kerwin, of the University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team, has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his production over the course of last week.
Kerwin is the second UT Martin player to receive weekly accolades this season, as Dalton Westfall was named the OVC Pitcher of the Week on April 24 and Feb. 7. The utility man has seen action at four different positions this season and is the 11th Skyhawk to receive the honor in program history, joining teammate Tanner Wessling, who brought home the award on Feb. 22, 2016.
The Bradenton, Fla. native appeared in four games last week, racking up a .500 average (10-20), while belting out three homers and three doubles. The senior drove in nine total runs in four appearances and also scored eight runs of his own, as the Skyhawks compiled a 4-1 record this week, including taking two-out-of-three contests at Eastern Illinois, and vaulted into eighth place in the OVC standings.
Kerwin and UT Martin will return to the diamond tomorrow night as they travel to Millington to take on Memphis in the squad’s final non-conference matchup of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
