BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin junior infielder Jodie Duncan has been named adidas Ohio Valley Conference Softball Co-Player of the Week along with Softball Player of the Week by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association after a week of strong performances against No. 18 Kentucky, Belmont and Tennessee State. The honor is the first OVC Player of the Week recognition for the Skyhawks since 2015 and the second for the junior in as many weeks by the TSWA.
Duncan posted a .462 batting average in four contest, tallying two runs scored, three doubles, a home run and five RBIs. She has tallied 11 RBIs in the last seven games – including two against No. 18 Kentucky, two against Belmont and one at Tennessee State. She also tallied three multi-hit outings over the week while posting an impressive .923 slugging percentage along with a .462 on-base percentage.
A native of Munford, Duncan is currently ranking amongst OVC leaders with her .364 batting average on the season while tallying 55 base hits, nine doubles, five home runs and 39 RBIs on the season. She has also been impressive in OVC play, notching a .396 batting average with four extra base hits – including two home runs – while driving in 12 RBIs.
Duncan and the Skyhawks will look to put a wrap on the regular season on Saturday, May 6 when playing host to Southeast Missouri in the team’s regular season finale. First pitch from Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for 4 p.m.
