CONWAY, Ark. – The University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball squad put the finishing touches on its inaugural 2017 campaign with a three-match tournament at Central Arkansas this weekend.

UT Martin faced host Central Arkansas on Thursday and Friday while also matching up with Louisiana-Monroe on Friday, falling 5-0 in all three matches. The Skyhawks were also scheduled to face Houston Baptist on Saturday but the match was cancelled because of inclement weather.

In Thursday’s match against Central Arkansas, Macy Catlett and Hannah Phillips competed at No. 1, falling 21-14, 21-8. Hayley Gray and Rachel Noffsinger teamed up at No. 2 but fell 21-7, 21-11 while the UT Martin duo of Jemima Idemudia and Macy Reigelsperger dropped a 21-8, 21-13 decision at No. 3.

The Skyhawks then returned Friday morning to take on Louisiana-Monroe. Catlett and Phillips battled but came up short at No. 1, 21-6, 22-20. At No. 2, Gray and Noffsinger nearly pulled off the win before falling 24-22, 21-13. Idemudia and Reigelsperger kept things close at No. 3 but ultimately fell 21-15, 21-17.

Catlett and Phillips came the closest to victory in the second match against Central Arkansas, as the No. 1 tandem fell 21-15, 21-11. Gray and Noffsinger lost 21-12, 21-5 at No. 2 while Idemudia and Reigelsperger represented UT Martin at No. 3 but fell 21-6, 21-11.
