NASHVILLE, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin softball senior pitcher Brooker Kennedy was named Softball Pitcher of the Week by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association on Wednesday for her performances over the past week.
Kennedy posted a 2-1 mark in the circle with a 1.75 ERA in 20 innings of work spread over three appearances – including her second shutout of the season. She struck out 18 batters on the week while issuing just one walk and limiting opponents to just a .203 batting average. Arguably her best game came against Austin Peay where she struck out six and faced just one batter above the minimum, allowing one hit in the shutout victory.
A native of Bath Springs, Kennedy currently sits 14-3 on the season with a 2.77 ERA in 106 innings of work. Kennedy has tallied 12 complete games while striking out 84. She is currently undefeated in conference play with five victories while ranking fourth in program history with 42 career wins.
Kennedy and the Skyhawks will return to action this afternoon when they take on Evansville in a non-conference road doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
