The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will play host to in-state rival Memphis in a midweek doubleheader on Tuesday, April 4. Action from Bettye Giles Field is scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m.

The Skyhawks (25-9) are looking to keep their momentum going after winning five of their last six contests. UT Martin earned a road split at SIUE over the weekend while outhitting the Cougars offensively.

Five different players tallied multi-hit performances against SIUE as sophomore Lauren Myers paced the team with three hits in the series while the quartet of Carly Gonzales, Jodie Duncan, Aeron Smith and Renate Meckl each tallied a pair of base knocks. Smith led all players with a pair of RBIs while Duncan and Rachel Williams also drove in runs.

Senior hurler Brooke Kennedy (12-2, 3.01 ERA) picked up her 40th career victory to move into sole possession of fifth place on the program’s all-time wins leaderboard. Kennedy tallied her 10th complete game of the season while striking out seven and allowing two earned runs in a victory. The Skyhawks also boast three underclassmen pitchers in Sara Hooten (6-3, 3.02 ERA), Samantha Scott (3-2, 3.09 ERA) and Seeley Layne (3-2, 3.65 ERA).

Memphis (20-16) suffered a setback in its last series, dropping two of three games on the road at Tulsa. The Tigers are led by two players hitting well over .400 on the season with Lindsay Crowdus hitting .483 with 21 stolen bases and 19 RBIs. Kyler Trosclair is hitting .434 on the season while leading the squad with 24 stolen bases and eight extra-base knocks. In the pitching circle, the Tigers boast Molly Smith (7-7, 2.16 ERA), Christian Novak (6-7, 2.35 ERA) and Katie Brignac (5-2, 4.34 ERA).
