MARTIN, Tenn. – The United Equestrian Conference announced its annual postseason awards this afternoon and a pair of University of Tennessee at Martin riders were represented on the prestigious list. Randi LaChance was named the Equitation on the Flat Freshman of the Year and to the Equitation on the Flat all-conference team while Brittany Woodard was named all-conference in Horsemanship.
LaChance, who hails from Exeter, RI, has made an immediate impact on the Skyhawks in 2016-17. She scored at least a 76 in all seven regular season contests before settling for a 72.5 average in equitation on the flat. She tied for the team-lead with four points and also added an MOP honor against Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 18. Her career-high score of 80 in equitation on the flat came against defending national champion and then-No. 1 Auburn on Sept. 29.
In addition, LaChance participated in equitation over fences for UT Martin. She accounted for a 69.1 average, tallying at least an 80 in five separate regular season outings. She accumulated four points and a team-high two MOP’s while establishing a career-high score of 91 in the aforementioned competition against Auburn.
A senior from Galloway, Ohio, Woodard was one of four horsemanship all-conference recipients. She posted a 69.8 average while racking up three team points and an MOP (against Minnesota-Crookston on March 3), tallying a season-best score of 75 on Senior Day. She scored at least a 71 in five of her six regular-season matchups.
Woodard also competed once in reining in 2016-17, earning a team point with a 68 against Minnesota-Crookston.
