MARTIN, Tenn. – For the 11th consecutive year, the University of Tennessee at Martin golf team will play host to the Grover Page Classic at the Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn. This year’s event will take place on March 12-14.
The 2017 Grover Page Classic includes nine teams and 11 individuals from John A. Logan, Murray State, New Orleans, Samford, Southern Indiana, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and Union in addition to the host Skyhawks.
Action begins with a practice round on Sunday, March 12. The 54-hole stroke play event then starts on Monday, March 13 with 36 holes before the final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday, March 14. A shotgun start is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on both Monday and Tuesday.
Monday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of 56 degrees to go along with a 20 percent chance of precipitation. The weather outlook for the last round on Tuesday is also partly cloudy with a high of 48 degrees and a 10 percent chance of rain. Winds are expected to be around 10 miles per hour on each day.
The Jackson Country Club is a par-72 course that plays at 6,776 yards. The championship course, which opened on Aug. 1, 1929, has served as host for 39 Tennessee State Championships, more than any other course in the state.
