MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian squad soared to a 16-0 sweep today against Minnesota-Crookston on Senior Day at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.
Seniors Claire Ottinger, Margo Quinn and Brittany Woodard were honored this morning for their career contributions. The trio followed with five head-to-head wins and one MOP during the competition.
“Today was a great day for UT Martin and an awesome send out for our seniors,” Skyhawk head coach Meghan Cunningham said. “We had a great day with some great rides. We are continuing to build looking towards the United Equestrian Conference championship in two weeks.”
In equitation on the flat, Monica Zoromski compiled MOP accolades with an 81-point performance. Ottinger won after earning 79 points while Randi LaChance tacked on 78 points on her way to the victory. Quinn’s 72-point ride also gave UT Martin a team point.
LaChance followed up her equitation on the flat performance with an MOP effort in equitation over fences, accumulating 82 points. Zoromski (78 points) and Ottinger (77 points) also earned head-to-head wins while Ally Scholefield also dialed up a victory with 76 points.
Woodard captured MOP accolades with a team-high 75 points in horsemanship. Jade Bleskey (74.5 points) wasn’t too far behind on her way to a victory while Bobbie Piddock and Liana Nowak achieved 73.5 and 73.0 points, respectively, to complete the sweep.
In reining, Madeline Williams secured MOP honors with a 69-point effort. Nowak built up 69.5 points while Piddock (69 points) and Woodard (68 points) each came away with head-to-head victories for UT Martin.
The Skyhawks return to action on March 24-25 when they travel to Dover, Del. for the UEC Championships hosted by Delaware State.
