BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – After helping the University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball team close out its second straight Ohio Valley Conference West division championship, senior guard Jacolby Mobley was named adidas OVC Player of the Week today.

Mobley, who was also crowned as OVC Player of the Week on Jan. 30, tossed in 30.5 points to go along with 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in Skyhawk home victories over Austin Peay (76-72) and Murray State (83-76). The two wins earned UT Martin the No. 2 seed in this week’s OVC Basketball Championships, held at Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn.

A native of Starkville, Miss., Mobley began his week by scoring 20 of his game-high 28 points in the second half of the victory against Austin Peay. His three-pointer with 3:31 left to play was the go-ahead bucket in a game where the Skyhawks trailed by double-digits in the second half.

Two days later against Murray State, Mobley dialed up a game-high 33 points – 23 of which came in the first half. After the Racers trimmed a 24-point deficit to one point with 1:57 remaining, he sank three clutch free throws down the stretch to help UT Martin seal the OVC division title.

Mobley concluded the regular season ranking first in the OVC in three-point field goals made (3.3 per game) while also ranking fourth in the league in scoring (19.4 points per game) and minutes played (35.4 per game). His 21.4 points per game in OVC play ranked second in the league, just three total points behind the leader.

The Skyhawks enter the OVC Basketball Championships as the No. 2 seed and will play on Friday, March 4 against either No. 3 Morehead State, No. 6 Tennessee Tech or No. 7 Murray State.
