BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team saw standout guard Kendall Spray earn her fourth adidas Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week honor after posting an impressive showing against Southeast Missouri last week.
A native of Lebanon, Tenn., Spray posted a huge game for the Skyhawks en route to a significant road victory over Southeast Missouri. Spray scored a game-high 26 points in the contest while going perfect 8-for-8 from beyond the arc. With the game in the balance, she put the team on her back by scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter alone. Her eight made three-pointers also tied her previous career-high, falling just one short of the program record.
Spray has proven to be one of the nation’s elite freshman, leading the team in scoring with 13.0 points per game. She currently ranks eighth nationally and second in the OVC in three-point field goals made with 84. Her 84 made three-pointers are tied for the program’s single-season record by a freshman – tying Heather Butler from the 2010-11 season.
Spray and the Skyhawks will return to action with a critical final week of contests, beginning with a road matchup at Austin Peay on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Tipoff from the Dunn Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
