The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball will look to snap the team’s longest losing streak during the Kevin McMillan era when playing host to Ohio Valley Conference foe Austin Peay on Wednesday, Jan. 25. Tipoff from the Elam Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Skyhawks (4-16, 1-6 OVC) are looking to break free from a six-game losing streak to close out the team’s brief two-game homestand. Looking for a win to keep the team’s OVC Tournament chances alive, the Skyhawks have dropped four of its last five games which have been decided by five points or fewer. Along with the small margin of defeat, UT Martin has seen three of its last four contests reach overtime – ranking as the most overtime contests in a single season since the 2012-13 campaign.

UT Martin will look to two of its top players in Kendall Spray and Ashton Feldhaus to lead the charge in the team’s final tournament push with just nine games remaining in the regular season. The pair both earned adidas OVC weekly honors with their respective freshman and newcomer of the week nods after strong performances against both Eastern Illinois and SIUE. Spray posted the league’s highest scoring output of the week with 56 total points – averaging 28.0 points per game – while Feldhaus made a mark for herself, averaging 19.0 ppg along with hitting a key three-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime against the Cougars.

Austin Peay (10-10, 4-3 OVC) enters the contest looking to build upon the OVC’s second-longest active winning streak stretching three games while winning four of its last five overall. The Governors are led by reigning OVC Player of the Week Tearra Banks who notched her seventh double-double of the season with 23 points and 12 rebounds against rival Murray State. So far on the season, Banks is averaging 17.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

Wednesday’s matchup will mark the 83rd meeting between the two programs with Austin Peay holding a 44-38 series advantage. Despite the Governors winning last season’s final matchup 80-70 in the Dunn Center, UT Martin has won nine of its last 10 games against Austin Peay dating back to the 2011-12 season.
