MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian team claimed its first victory of the season today in a convincing 15-5 win over Miami (Ohio) at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.

The Skyhawks held an 8-2 edge in Hunt Seat and a 7-3 advantage in Western this morning. UT Martin swept all four MOP accolades and swept the equitation on the flat competition (5-0).

Freshman Randi LaChance led the Skyhawks today, securing MOP honors in both Hunt Seat events. She compiled 76 points in equitation on the flat while garnering 80 points in equitation over fences.

In equitation on the flat, Elise Beauchamp tallied 73 points while Claire Ottinger secured 72 points. Monica Zoromski and Sydney Lintner both accounted for 67 points apiece for UT Martin.

Zoromski garnered 81 points in equitation over fences while Savannah Metheny piled up 76 points to give the Skyhawks the 3-2 win in the event.

UT Martin claimed three of the five points in horsemanship while winning four of the five head-to-head matchups in reining.

Bobbie Piddock was responsible for 72 points to win MOP honors in horsemanship. Liana Nowak (70 points) and Jade Bleskey (68 points) also contributed head-to-head victories for the Skyhawks.

In reining, Madeline Williams came away with MOP accolades after she was awarded 68.5 points for her performance. Megan Aiosa (68 points), Nowak (67.5) and Sammi Felts (66.5) also each earned victories to cap off a dominant win for UT Martin.

The Skyhawks will now take three months off from official competition before opening their spring schedule with matchups at Alabama and current No. 4 Auburn on Feb. 17-18.
