FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s tennis team picked up its second win of the spring with a 5-2 victory over North Alabama over the weekend.

The Skyhawks (2-5) swept the double’s point before picking up four victories in singles play. The No. 1 doubles team of Katie McCall and Sarah Candeloro got the Skyhawks off on the right foot, picking up the 8-6 victory. No. 2 doubles saw Ivon Simic and Hitomi Naito post a dominating 8-2 performance. The duo of Burcu Tari and Jessica Silva wrapped up doubles play with an 8-4 victory of their own.

After dropping the No. 1 single match, as Simic fell to Olivera Ngouabeu (6-4, 6-4), the Skyhawks would win four straight matches. No. 2 play saw Naito pick up the 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory before Candeloro posted a dominating performance with consecutive (6-1, 6-1) set victories.

The Skyhawks picked up their final two wins of the afternoon as Tari posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory before Silva won her No. 5 match.

UT Martin will look to continue its hot play when facing off against Auburn-Montgomery on Monday, March 3 and West Florida on Wednesday, March 5 before opening conference play.
