MARTIN, Tenn. – Of the five members on the Tennessean all-midstate boys golf team, two of those honorees will be a part of the University of Tennessee at Martin golf program beginning next fall.
Zach Haynes and Hunter Richardson each committed to head coach Jerry Carpenter and the Skyhawk program last November. The duo singlehandedly make up one of the most highly touted signing classes in program history.
“I am very proud of both Zach and Hunter’s accomplishments,” Carpenter said. “They have both put in a lot of hard work on the golf course and are very deserving of these recognitions.”
Haynes, who attends Smyrna High School, finished as Class AAA runner-up after narrowly falling in a playoff to Hendersonville’s Noah Trinkler, who was named the all-midstate Player of the Year. Haynes won the District 7-AAA championship and finished third in Region 4-AAA.
A Clarksville High School standout, Richardson finished first in District 10-AAA and Region 5-AAA tournaments this past fall. He also tied for eighth place in the Class AAA tournament with a final score of 148 (+4).
