MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball team will take the home floor for the first time in three weeks when it hosts Ohio Valley Conference rivals Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State this weekend at Skyhawk Fieldhouse.

A Halloween costume contest is set for Friday, Oct. 25 against Eastern Kentucky, which is set to begin at 7 p.m. The winner will receive a $15 gift card to the university bookstore. On Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. against Morehead State, the Skyhawks will host their annual “Dig Pink” event, where fans will have the opportunity to make donations in the ongoing fight against cancer.

UT Martin (8-16, 2-6 OVC) begins a stretch where four of its next six matches are at home as it charges towards the postseason race. The Skyhawks have won six straight at home against Eastern Kentucky, having not lost to the Colonels at home since 2005.

Emily Keaton’s 2.72 kills per set leads UT Martin, while Madison Wessling (2.56) and Allie Whimpey (2.46) also average over two kills per set for the Skyhawk offense. Amanda Crask ranks sixth in the OVC with 9.62 assists per set while Lynsey Hazelwood (0.35) and Keaton (0.29) rank third and ninth in the league in service aces, respectively.

Chelsea Bowles anchors the UT Martin defensive attack, scooping up 4.41 digs per set (fifth in the OVC). Hazelwood (2.52 digs per set), Keaton (2.35), Colleen Larson (2.18) and Crask (2.01) also pace the Skyhawks defensively. Freshmen Julia Devinney (0.70 blocks per set) and Alisha Erves (0.67) rank as the team leaders in blocks.

Eastern Kentucky (12-12, 4-4 OVC) has won five straight matches heading into the weekend. The Colonels lead the OVC in service aces (1.53 per set).

Ashley Edmond (3.36 kills per set) ranks third in the league with 3.70 points per set for Eastern Kentucky. Alexis Plagens has compiled 2.93 kills per set to rank 10th in the OVC while Abbey Cvelbar (6.14 assists per set) and Mallori Moffat (4.42 assists per set) have split the setter duties this season.

Defensively, Dena Ott ranks third in the league with 4.52 digs per set while Rachel Vick has turned away 0.71 blocks per set to lead the Colonels.

Morehead State (17-6, 8-0 OVC) has won 13 of its last 15 decisions heading into the weekend. The Eagle defense ranks as one of the best in the OVC, as they lead the league in opponent hitting percentage (.140).

Courtney Smith (2.82 kills per set), Aryn Bohannon (2.70) and Alex Fitzmorris (2.44) have all eclipsed the 200-kill mark so far this season for Morehead State. Colbey Cameron paces the Eagles with 9.85 assists per set.

The Eagle defensive attack is headed by Leslie Schellhaas (5.16 digs per set, second in the OVC) and Hannah Sigala (0.99 blocks per set, fourth in the OVC).
