NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Myles Taylor, a junior on the University of Tennessee at Martin basketball team, has been honored as one of 10 members on the 2013-14 Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference men’s basketball team, the league announced today at its annual Media Day luncheon.
This honor comes after Taylor earned OVC Freshman of the Year and All-Newcomer accolades in 2011-12. Last season as a sophomore, Taylor established himself as one of the most dominant frontcourt forces in the OVC.
A 6-7, 250-pound forward out of Little Rock, Ark., Taylor ranked sixth in the OVC in scoring (16.2 points per game) and rebounding (7.2 per game) in 2012-13. He scored in double-figures in 27 out of his 29 games, including eight 20-point outings. He led the team in scoring 15 times, including a season-best 25 points at Tennessee State on Jan. 10.
Taylor accumulated six double-doubles last season, pulling down back-to-back career-high 14 rebound games against OVC rivals SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Kentucky to close out January.
Through two seasons, Taylor has poured in 855 points for a 15.0 point per game average. He has also tallied 10 double-doubles and 13 games of at least 20 points for UT Martin, who return 11 players and has been picked as high as second in the OVC West by Sporting News magazine.
