MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team will look to build off momentum from their first winning streak of the season as they make the trek to the eastern half of Kentucky for a pair conference matches at Morehead State (Friday, Oct. 11) and Eastern Kentucky (Sunday, Oct. 13).
UT Martin will look to improve upon their offensive output as they knocked off Jacksonville State 3-1 at Skyhawk Field last Friday. The Skyhawks enter this weekend with an overall record of 4-7-1, including a 2-1 OVC mark.
Offensively, senior Abi Sanvee leads the team with three goals, including game winners against Saint Louis and Lipscomb. Freshmen Aoife Lennon and Ellie Myrick trail closely with two goals on the season. Junior Ashlie Watson scored her first goal of the season after beating the keeper against Jacksonville State.
In goal, Mariah Klenke leads the team with 1010 minutes between the posts. Klenke has tallied 63 saves while recording three shutouts on the year. She posts a .808 save percentage.
Morehead State comes into the weekend’s match with an overall record of 3-8-1, 2-1 OVC. The Eagles are riding a bit of a hot streak, winning three of their past four matches.
Offensively, Morehead State is led by Jade Flory who has posted six goals on the year to go with four assists and two game-winners. Flory ranks in the OVC top-10 in seven categories: points (16, second); points per game (1.33, third); goals (six, third); goals per game (0.50; fourth); assists (four; second); assists per game (0.33; third); game winnings goals (2, third).
Three goalkeepers have seen significant time for the Eagles but Elizabeth Floyd leads the team with 465:36 minutes played. Floyd has 13 saves and one shutout on the year.
Eastern Kentucky (2-9-1, 1-2 OVC) comes into the weekend off the wings two consecutive one goal losses. The Colonels are led Cassie Smith’s two goals and two assists on the year. Kristan Paynter also has two goals on the year, including one game-winner.
Erika Wolfer has seen most of the action in goal for the Colonels, tallying 48 saves and two shutouts in 880:39 minutes of action.
