BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference announced today that University of Tennessee at Martin soccer goalkeeper Mariah Klenke has been named adidas OVC Goalkeeper Player of the Week after her record setting performance against Saint Louis this past weekend.
Klenke tallied her third clean sheet of the season, setting a new UT Martin career record by registering her 11th shutout of the junior’s career against Saint Louis in the 1-0 decision. Klenke’s 11 career shutouts surpassed Lauren MacKenzie (2010-11) and Johanna Rathbun’s (2007-08) previous career marks of 10. The Highland, Ill. native registered seven saves on Friday evening.
Klenke, ranks in the OVC top-5 in four categories of saves (57, second), save percentage (.826, third), saves per game (6.33, third) and goals against average (1.38, fifth). Along with the UT Martin shutout record, Klenke owns the career mark with 24 victories in goal.
Klenke and the Skyhawks will look to replicate last season’s OVC Tournament as they travel to Austin Peay to open conference play in a rematch of last year’s title match on Friday, Sept. 27. Action from Morgan Bros. Field is set to get underway at 7 p.m.
