MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball team continues its three-game homestand when it hosts Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State on Thursday, Jan. 3 at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center. Tip-off time against the Racers is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The last time that these two teams met in the Elam Center, the Skyhawks nearly pulled off one of the biggest wins in program history. In front of a standing-room only crowd on Feb. 4, 2012, UT Martin gave the No. 9 ranked Racers all they could handle before Murray State came away with the 65-58 victory.

UT Martin (3-11, 0-2 OVC) is coming off a 64-54 home loss against Jacksonville State on Monday. Myles Taylor (22 points, 12 rebounds) and Justin Childs (12 points) led the Skyhawks in a game that was knotted at 22-all at the halftime break.

Fresh off winning an OVC-record 31 games against only two losses last season, Murray State (9-3, 0-0 OVC) is coming off a 66-64 home loss to Valparaiso on Dec. 29. Preseason All-American Isaiah Canaan tossed in a game-high 24 points while Ed Daniel (14 points) and Dexter Fields (12) also cracked double-figures for the Racers, who lead the OVC in scoring at 75.5 points per contest.
