MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball squad rounds out the 2012 calendar year with a New Year’s Eve clash against Jacksonville State at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The Skyhawks (3-10, 0-1 Ohio Valley Conference) are coming off a valiant effort in their OVC opener at Southeast Missouri last Saturday. In that game, UT Martin led by 15 points in the first half before Southeast Missouri clawed back and escaped with a 65-60 win. Jeremy Washington (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Myles Taylor (14 points) each cracked double-figures in the scoring column while junior Mike Liabo became UT Martin’s 16th member of the 1,000 point club in the contest.

Jacksonville State (9-3, 1-0 OVC) is coming off an 83-62 home victory over OVC foe Tennessee Tech on Saturday. The Gamecocks - who lead the league in scoring defense (59.7 points per game) and three-point field goal percentage defense (.244) - limited the Golden Eagles to just 37.1 percent shooting for the game. Brian Williams (18 points), Darion Rackley (16), Tarvin Gaines (15) and Ronnie Boggs (14) all scored double-figures for Jacksonville State.
