EQUESTRIAN TEAM WINS TWO OUT OF THREE SHOWS ON EAST COAST

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian team won two-out of-three shows this past weekend at Delaware State and Sacred Heart University in Connecticut.

After battling Delaware State to a 9-9 tie, UT Martin was declared the winner by virtue of the raw score.

UT Martin suffered a 3-2 loss in Equitation, despite Reid Rickett’s victory and Kara Bergenty’s 84-point ride and Most Outstanding Performance.

The Skyhawks won Equitation over Fences 4-0. Hunter Ralston, Nora Wilson, Rickett and Bergenty scored points. Wilson won the MOP with an 82-point ride.

On the Western side, Delaware State win the Horsemanship 4-1. Candice Fulcher scored UT Martin’s only point. The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie in Reining. Michelle Chulock won the MOP and Amy Guenther scored the other point for the Skyhawks.

UT Martin suffered a 9-7 loss to South Dakota State, losing the Hunter Seat 5-3, but winning the Western 6-2.

The two schools tied 2-2 in Equitation. Ralston and Bergenty scored for UT Martin. However, the Skyhawks won 3-1 in Equitation over Fences. Wilson, Bergenty and Katie Miranda scored points.

UT Martin suffered a 6-2 setback in the Western. The two teams tied 2-2 in Horsemanship. Kathryn Gorsuch won the MOP, while Candice Fulcher also scored.

 In the Reining, South Dakota State blanked UT Martin 4-0.

 The Skyhawks closed out the East Coast trip with an 11-5 victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday. UT Martin won the Equitation 5-3, winning Equitation 3-1. Mykaela VanSelus, Rickett and Bergenty scored.

 The two teams tied, 2-2, in Equitation over Fences. Miranda and Rickett scored for UT Martin.

The Skyhawks scored a 6-2 victory in Western. Amy Guenther won the MOP in both Horsemanship and Reining. Chulock and Fulcher also scored in Horsemanship, while Megan Marie Foley and Fulcher scored in Reining.

The Skyhawks are now 2-2 on the season and will host Miami of Ohio this Friday.
