Morehead State Results Kentucky Results
MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin mixed rifle team tallied the fourth-highest air rifle score in program history over the weekend, as the Skyhawks concluded their fall schedule with matchups at Morehead State and Kentucky.
The mixed team compiled 2,316 air rifle points on Saturday at Morehead State, to go along with 2,248 smallbore points for an aggregate score of 4,564. The Skyhawk women’s squad registered 4,440 points (2,184 smallbore, 2,256 air rifle), while Morehead State accounted for 4,580 points (2,287 smallbore, 2,293 air rifle).
Dana Maurizio paced the mixed team’s historic effort in the air rifle competition, finishing with a career-best score of 585. Steve Hahn’s 580 was the next highest score for UT Martin, followed by Jessica Cobb (577), Mark McClallen (574) and Joe Barefoot (569). Sean O’Brien competed as an individual, recording a score of 577.
On the women’s side, Nikki Kroll fired a team-high 568 in air rifle, followed closely behind by Jamie Arnett’s 567. Jordan Goodwin scored a career-best 563, while Kelly James (558) and Jennifer Greeves (541) rounded out the scoring.
Hahn led the mixed squad in smallbore, accumulating 574 points. Maurizio posted a strong 567, followed by Barefoot’s score of 558. O’Brien (549) and McClallen (546) completed the scoring, while Cobb (545) shot as an individual.
James’ 558 ranked as a team-best for the women’s team in smallbore, followed by Kroll (549), Goodwin (548) and Greeves (529).
At Kentucky, the Skyhawk mixed team amassed 4,577 points (2,265 smallbore, 2,312 air rifle), while the women’s team shot an aggregate score of 4,456 (2,184 smallbore, 2,272 air rifle). Host Kentucky shot a 4,656 – piecing together 2,303 smallbore points to go along with 2,353 air rifle points.
Cobb (584) and Hahn (583) were responsible for impressive performances in the air rifle event, while Maurizio and McClallen scored 573 and 572, respectively. Barefoot’s 564 completed the scoring for the mixed team, while O’Brien fired a 564 as an individual.
A 578 tally by Kroll led the women’s team in air rifle, followed by Arnett (566). James and Goodwin (career-best) fired scores of 565 and 563, respectively, while Greeves’ career-high 554 points wrapped up the scoring.
In smallbore, Hahn led the mixed team by tying his career-high score of 577, followed by Maurizio (566) and Barefoot (565). McClallen and O’Brien rounded out the scoring with scores of 557 and 549, respectively, while Cobb fired a career-high 563 competing individually.
Kroll’s career-best 566 in smallbore paced the women’s squad, while Goodwin (553), James (539) and Greeves (526) also contributed to the team score.
The Skyhawks return to action on Friday, Jan. 18 when they make the short trek to Murray State.
