MARTIN, Tenn. – Tyler Shellnut, a junior golfer at The University of Tennessee at Martin, was named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Co-Golfer of the Week Wednesday morning.
Shellnut fired a final round score of 66 (-6) to jump from 17th to first in capturing the medalist crown at the 2012 Skyhawk Classic held at Paris Landing Golf Course in Buchanan, Tenn.
For the event the junior had rounds of 70-74-66 (210, -6) to finish one stroke ahead of a trio of golfers. Overall Shellnut topped the 78-competitor field that included 32 golfers from OVC schools. The title marked his first collegiate medalist honors. Shellnut currently ranks second in the OVC in stroke average (71.7 through 8 rounds).
