MARTIN, Tenn. – Ronnie Armstrong, a 1988 University of Tennessee at Martin Athletics Hall of Famer, will be one of six inductees in the inaugural Hardin County Sports Hall of Fame.
The induction is set for Monday, July 16 in the grand ballroom of the Pickwick Landing State Park Inn and Convention Center. Doors open at 5:30. Dinner will be served at 6:30. The keynote speaker for the evening will be legendary football coach and College Football Hall of Famer Gene Stallings. After a stellar career as an all-around athlete at Savannah Central High School, Armstrong went on to a storied basketball career (1963-65) at UT Martin where he scored more than 900 total points. He was a two-time All-Volunteer Conference team selection, two–time defensive player of the year and was the team MVP in his senior year. After his playing career at UT Martin, Armstrong returned to Savannah where he was the head basketball coach at Central High School from 1966-1976.
