MARTIN, Tenn. – The UT Martin rodeo team has completed two rounds in the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyo., and head coach John Luthi said his team members have a good chance to make it to Saturday night’s championship short round.
“We have some shots,” Luthi said. “A lot can happen.”
UT Martin senior Chelsie McDade is sitting in 11th place after all three rounds in the goat tying. She has a total time of 23.6.
McDade will have to wait and see if she makes the top 12 because, like all the other events, the third round is not finished.
Freshman Katie Brown is in a similar predicament in the barrel racing. Brown is currently in 11th place after three runs. Her best time was 14.49 in the third go.
UT Martin senior Heather Moore is currently 24th after two rounds, while freshman Dacia Horne is six places back after two rounds.
On the men’s side, junior Jordan Thrasher is 17th, while freshman Clark Adcock is 30th in tie down roping.
Adcock, who is also working the team roping event with sophomore Ben Walker, still has a third round run. Adcock and Walker are 24.0 after two rounds. Sophomores John Alley and Clay Mitchell are also up in the third round.
The 64th annual College National Finals Rodeo wraps up Saturday night with the championship short round.
