MARTIN, Tenn. – Rising senior Montori Hughes was named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Watch List for Defensive Ends and Defensive Tackles. Hughes transferred to The University of Tennessee at Martin from Tennessee at the beginning of the 2011 season.
Hughes, from Murfreesboro, made 30 total tackles. He had 6.5 tackles for a loss of 28 yards, one sack, one forced fumble, a fumble recovery and three quarterback hurries.
Hughes was named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his effort against Eastern Illinois (Oct. 23, 2011). He was also named CFPA National Defensive Lineman of the Week. He had 10 total tackles against Eastern Illinois. He had 5.5 TFL, a sack for 11 yards, a forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Hughes and the Skyhawks open the 2012 season Sept. 1, at the University of Memphis.
