The University of Tennessee at Martin track and field squads opened the spring portion of the indoor season at the John Craft Invite hosted by Eastern Illinois on Saturday.

His career mark joins his other program records in the indoor DMR along with outdoor marks in the 200m, 400m, 800m. Another standout performance as the outing by Vashawnda Smith who notched a personal and school record in the women’s 60m dash with a time of 7.88 seconds.

The Skyhawks saw its men’s 4x400m relay team of Jhon-Wes Walker, Luke McNair, Kewan Slaton and Jonathan Conley excel, winning the relay with a time of 3:30.08.

“The athletes have worked really hard over the break and all the signs we’ve seen today are very positive,” said UT Martin head coach Peter Dalton. “There is room for improvement team-wide, but we certainly have the talent and determination to make this track season a great success.”

UT Martin will return to the track on Saturday, Jan. 27 with an appearance at the A-State Invitation and Multis hosted by Arkansas State.
