2018 UT Martin Softball Schedule
MARTIN, Tenn. – With the spring season just 30 days away, University of Tennessee at Martin head softball coach Donley Canary announced the team’s full 2018 schedule.
The Skyhawks will be challenged with a schedule which features four teams who earned NCAA Tournament berths last season and three others which played in the Postseason NISC. Flooded with a full slate of games, UT Martin will travel to five states while competing against 17 different conferences in addition to the always challenging Ohio Valley Conference grind.
UT Martin will make its debut on Bettye Giles Field on Wednesday, March 14 as the first of 20 scheduled home dates. The Skyhawks will also participate in six non-conference tournaments to begin the season - including hosting its second annual Skyhawk Hampton Inn Classic on March 17-18.
“Much like most years, I think we have a challenging schedule,” said Canary. “With seven teams who competed in the postseason a year ago, we will be challenged throughout the year. With that being said, I think we have good veteran leadership and a talented roster which can meet the expectations and the standards that we have set forth to compete for yet another postseason berth.”
UT Martin will open the season with a four-game tournament appearance at the Mardi Gras Classic in Monroe, La. from Friday, Feb. 9 through Saturday, Feb. 10. The Skyhawks will debut against Stephen F. Austin and Grambling State on the opening day before closing out the tournament against Prairie View A&M and North Texas on Saturday.
