The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team will pack their bags and cross into the Natural State with a matchup at regional rival Arkansas State on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Tipoff from the ASU Convocation Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Skyhawks (1-2) enter the contest after suffering a 71-63 setback to Big Ten member Northwestern in their most recent contest. Four different Skyhawks scored in double figures led by Chelsey Perry and Myah Taylor with 14 points each while the duo of Kendall Spray and Janekia Mason tallied 12 points each.

UT Martin is led by the play of Spray, a sophomore guard, with 17.0 points per game. The pair of Taylor (12.7 ppg) and Perry (12.7 ppg, 6.0 rpg) round out the Skyhawks in double figures. Overall, the Skyhawks have placed four players in double figures in the last two contest and at least three in every game this season.

Tuesday’s coaching matchup features two program greats in UT Martin’s Kevin McMillan and Arkansas State’s Brian Boyer. McMillan ranks fifth on the OVC’s all-time wins leaderboard with a career mark of 155-104 in his ninth season. Boyer has meanwhile posted a 307-256 overall record in 19 seasons leading the Red Wolves.

Arkansas State (1-2) is coming off a road swing through the Sunshine State, splitting its games with a road win at Florida (70-69) earlier in the week before falling to No. 22 ranked South Florida (98-55) on Friday. In the team’s most recent contest against USF, junior guard Akasha Westbrook notched her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Red Wolves are led by do-it-all guard Westbrook who paces the squad with 15.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Peyton Martin (7.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg) and Jada Ford (7.3 ppg) rank as the team’s other two top scorers.

This marks the 13th matchup between UT Martin and Arkansas State in series history. The Skyhawks hold a 7-5 advantage in the series, winning three of the last four matchups.
