MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team wraps up the Ohio Valley Conference regular season as it travels to Tennessee Tech on Sunday, Oct. 22. First touch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
UT Martin holds the all-time series lead over the Golden Eagles (11-9-1), with the Skyhawks winning nine of the last 12 contests between the two programs.
UT Martin (6-9-3, 4-4-1 OVC) is coming off a weekend sweep of SIUE (3-2) in double overtime and Eastern Illinois (2-1). With a postseason berth already in hand, UT Martin currently sits tied for fifth in the OVC Standings and could move to as high as fourth after the weekend.
Last weekend, Alice Adams (two goals), Amy McGivern (one goal), Danae Kaldaridou (one goal) and Bella Roberts (one goal) all got in on the action in the two-game span. The Skyhawks outshot opponents 52-24 while Erica Myers snagged 10 total saves to help UT Martin to two wins.
The Skyhawk offense is led by Kaldaridou, whose seven goals are tied for fourth in the OVC. Katelyn Colvin’s eight assists pace the conference and are the eighth-most in the nation. Erica Myers ranks second in the league with 79 saves during her freshman campaign.
Tennessee Tech (8-4-3, 5-1-3 OVC) is led by Kendall Powell, whose three goals pace the Golden Eagles. Reigning Defensive Player of the Week Karigan Owens and Tina Marlot are tied for the team lead in assists with four apiece. Goalkeeper Kari Naerdemann (58 saves, 0.45 GAA) has only conceded seven goals in over 1,414 minutes between the posts for fourth-year head coach Steve Springthorpe.
