In breakaway roping, Alexandra Lyle finished third in the opening round (3.1) and sixth in both the short go (13.2) and in average (16.3).

The UT Martin duo of Cord Barricklow and Styles tallied points in steer wrestling. Barricklow’s 7.2 seconds in the opening round placed third while he finished sixth in the short go (14.7) and in average (21.9). Styles’ 7.7 seconds in the first round was good enough for sixth place.

Four UT Martin cowboys representing three different teams accounted for points in team roping. Patrick Houchins joined forces with East Mississippi’s Jake Wells to tally high finishes in average (21.6, third), in the short go (13.6, third) and in the opening round (8.0, fifth). Craig Parks also teamed with Southern Arkansas’ Tanner Turner to rank third in the opening round with a time of 7.9 seconds.

In barrel racing, Ashley Brooks and Kenzley Wilson each performed well for UT Martin. Brooks came in second in average (34.12) while also placing third in both the first round (16.84) and in the second round (17.28). Meanwhile, Wilson also accumulated points in all three phases as she placed fourth in the short round (17.3), fifth in average (34.36) and fifth in the opening go (17.06).

Ryan McDaniel put forth a strong effort in bull riding, as the junior from Yuma, Tenn. was one of only four cowboys to accrue points. His 79 first-round points were the highest in the field and carried over to a second-place result in average.

UT Martin takes next week off from official competition before returning to action at a rodeo hosted by Murray State on Oct. 12-14.
