MARTIN, Tenn. –
Coming off a convincing win in the season-opening weekend, the University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball team will look to keep its momentum going when it travels to Arkansas for the next three days.

The Skyhawks (1-2) have added Louisiana Tech to the schedule, as UT Martin will take on the Lady Techsters on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. in Conway, Ark. The addition came after Louisiana Tech’s scheduled tournament at Lamar University was cancelled because of Hurricane Harvey.

Following the match against Louisiana Tech, the Skyhawks will face a trio of opponents in the UCA Invitational – each of whom they faced in 2016. UT Martin takes on in-state rival Memphis at 11 a.m. and Little Rock at 4 p.m. on Friday before concluding their tournament participation against host Central Arkansas at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Last weekend, the Skyhawks were led by senior middle blocker Jemima Idemudia. The Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree recorded team-highs in kills (23), hitting percentage (.459) and blocks (11). Senior teammate Macy Reigelsperger added 22 kills and 20 digs while newcomers Kenzie Hinshaw (52 assists, 24 digs) and Brooke Gyori (team-high 32 digs) also helped lead UT Martin, who found its offensive rhythm by hitting a scorching .410 over the final three sets of its win over Delaware on Saturday.

The Lady Techsters went 1-3 in the Rebel Invitational last weekend, posting a five-set win over Florida A&M while falling to Ole Miss (3-2), North Dakota (3-1) and Chattanooga (3-0). Marta Monne was responsible for a team-high 50 kills while also tallying 61 digs. Brooke Short came away with 146 assists while Jacie McClure (72 digs) and Madeline Davis (21 blocks) shored up the Louisiana Tech defensive attack.

Friday morning’s matchup will be the first of two meetings this season against the Tigers, as the Skyhawks will also square off against Memphis on Sept. 16. The Tigers enter the tournament at 0-3 on the season after a tough weekend at the EIU Panther Invitational, including a 3-2 loss to OVC member Eastern Illinois. Freshman Alyssa Kronberg picked up American Athletic Conference weekly honors after scooping up a league-best 5.92 digs per set over the weekend. Hannah Flowers piled up a team-high 38 kills while Brianna Kadiku chipped in 34 kills on a .419 hitting percentage to go along with a team-best 14 blocks.

Little Rock went 1-2 at the Southern Miss Invitational last weekend with its lone win coming by a 3-0 margin against Jackson State. The Trojans were paced by Veronica Marin, who was crowned Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week after turning away 18 blocks (1.50 per set). She was also responsible for a team-high .444 attack percentage while sharing the team lead in kills (30) with Marina Avram. Taylor Lindberg (9.25 assists per set) and Sydnee Martin (3.92 digs per set) also performed well for Little Rock.

Central Arkansas (3-0) generated three sweeps in the Buffalo Invite, making short work of Canisius, Hampton and Buffalo. Megan Nash (23 kills, .415 attack percentage, five service aces, 12 digs, nine blocks) earned tournament Most Valuable Player honors and Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week accolades. Samantha Anderson garnered Southland Offensive Player of the Week status after tallying 29 kills while Haley Tippett racked up a team-high 32 kills and Elizabeth Armstrong handed out 10.89 assists per set.
